“Hey! She’s awake!” yelled someone.
I slowly blinked my eyes, trying to get used to the surrounding light. “Where… where am I? Why does my head hurt so much?” I thought to myself.
“Hello, my name is Dr. Galen. You’re in Carington Royal Hospital. Can you tell me your name?” asked Dr. Galen.
“My… name? My name is… uh… my name is… I can’t remember. Why can’t I remember? Argh, my head hurts so much!” I said, clutching my head.
“Okay, that’s okay. Do you remember anything about yourself at all? Something that might tell us your identity?” asked Dr. Galen.
I thought for awhile before I realised that nothing came to mind. I started to hyperventilate. However, it wasn’t long until I felt myself losing consciousness as a warm soothing sensation coursed through my body.
I had no idea how long was I out for but when I regain consciousness, a little boy and girl were sitting right next to my bed talking to each other. Seeing that I was awake, they stopped and stared at me.
“Miss, are you okay? We weren’t sure whether you’ll be okay, seeing that you fell from the sky. What were you doing so high up there?” asked the little boy.
“I… I fell from the sky?” I asked.
“Yeah! Thank goodness you fell into the lake instead of the ground! My brother pulled you out and brought you here!” exclaimed the little girl.
I began to have flashbacks of the scene they described. I remembered the immense fear I felt while I fell until I lost consciousness. Another scene briefly passed through my mind, it was kind of foggy but it looked like flashing car headlights getting closer and closer as an unknown voice kept yelling something. “Did I get hit by a car? And who and what was that person yelling?” I thought.
“Hold on, what do you mean by he pulled me out from the lake?” I asked as I was a little skeptical of what seems to be a young boy that was about 7 to 8 years old pulling a person twice his size out of the water by himself.
“Oh! He can control the water! He manipulated the water to save you!” said the little girl.
“Control water? What do you mean?” I asked, confused.
“Y’know, magic! Miss, have you not heard of magic?” asked the little girl looking a little confused.
To say that I was shocked was an understatement. Something told me that I have definitely not heard of magic nor seen someone who uses it.
“I’m sorry, I don’t seem to remember… Can you use magic as well?” I asked.
“Yep, I’m a healer! But I can’t seem to control my magic that well yet. I can only heal small cuts or bruises at the moment but I’m still improving!” said the little girl enthusiastically.
I smiled a little as the little girl’s smile was contagious. I asked for their names and thanked them for saving my life. The little boy was Kai and the little girl was Althea. We talked for awhile more before they had to leave. I was then left to my own devices. I had nothing to do so I tried to dig down deep to see what else I could remember. However, the more I tried, the more my head hurt. It was like there was some sort of barrier preventing me from remembering.
Night was approaching and since I had no other choice, I closed my eyes and tried to get some sleep. I did not know how long had passed but I woke up with a start. I dreamt of the previous scene with flashing car headlights but this time I heard loud and clear what that unknown person was yelling.
