Have you ever wanted to try good lobsters? Head up to Burger & Lobster at Genting Highlands! I’ve visited this restaurant a few times now, and each time I’m satisfied by the size and freshness of their lobster. Located on top of the hill at SkyAvenue, Genting, is Burger & Lobster. It’s about an hour’s drive from Kuala Lumpur.

Burger & Lobster
Unlike their other branches around the world, this outlet doesn’t take reservations. They only serve walk in customers. If you do choose to visit their outlet, I would suggest not to go during the weekends. Weekend waiting times for a table can sometimes take up to hours!
Origins – In 2011, the story began with four schoolmates on a rooftop in London. They came up with the idea to set up a restaurant where the focus was perfecting the craft of just one or two main ingredients. In a small Irish pub in Mayfair, the first Burger & Lobster was born.
Their menu is a simple one. It is divided into 3 sections – Burgers, Wild Live Lobsters and Lobster Rolls, each with three variants. I opted for my favourite – the Chili Lobster served with signature brioche (RM188), while my friend had the The Original Lobster Roll with Japanese mayonnaise (RM138) (my second favourite!). Just to note that all of their rolls are served chilled, in their signature toasted brioche roll.
I’ve also noticed that they have changed the pricing of their dishes since their inception here at Genting Highlands. For starters, they used to have Genting member pricing. Also, the Wild Live Lobster series weren’t as expensive when it first opened. Chili Lobster used to be RM168/RM173, and The Original (from the Wild Live Lobster series) used to be RM148/153. Guess their prices grew with inflation and lower MYR/USD rates. To view their current menu prices at their official website, click here.
Chili Lobster – RM188
Their Chili Lobster is apparently a special dish only made available just to Malaysia. This dish has successfully incorporated the flavours of this region! It’s da bomb! The brioche slices at the side were the perfect companion to wipe the pot clean.
Warning: This is quite a messy dish given that you’d probably need to use your hands to savour the lobsters entirely!
Fun fact: Burger & Lobster source their lobsters all the way from Nova Scotia, Canada. |
The Original Lobster Roll – RM138
I absolutely love their lobster roll – buttery brioche roll, filled with generous pieces of lobster in Japanese mayo! Though the portion looks small, it’s just right and you won’t find it overwhelming. It’s served with their signature lemon and garlic butter sauce.
The Original – RM168
Verdict
Previously, I’ve also tried their The Original (RM168) from their Wild Live Lobsters menu, served either steamed or grilled with a choice of clarified butter or B&L’s famous lemon and garlic butter sauce, with fries and salad as sides. If you prefer tasting the natural lobster taste, order this!… though I would say it pairs really well with the lemon and garlic butter sauce.
Their burger line is so-so. I remembered that their beef patty was rather dry. Overall, not memorable. So I’d stick to their lobsters.
I’d definitely be back for more. Even writing this post has got me craving for Burger & Lobster.
