Waffles and cakes at Fluffed Café & Dessert Bar @ Taman Paramount, Petaling Jaya

I have been hearing pretty consistent good feedback about this place from my colleagues at work. They have been harping about their cakes and awesome waffles. I have also driven by this cafe numerous times, and there’s always a beeline queue waiting to get in. So one fine morning, I decided to head to the cafe early to avoid the crowds, and I didn’t need to queue.

Located in Taman Paramount, parking can be rather hard to find depending on which day you plan to visit this cafe. As this cafe is usually packed with people, you might need to park slightly further down the road to get a parking.

I tried their Rose Lychee Cloudcake (RM12) and Pooh Bear’s Favourite (RM20).

Rose Lychee Cloudcake (RM12)

Their Rose Lychee Cloudcake is one of their signature cakes. It’s a light and moist cake with pastry rosewater cream, lychee and strawberry slices. The cake slices in between the cream is also soft, though I personally wished that there were more cake than cream. I was also pleasantly surprised that it was not overwhelmingly sweet as it looked, though I personally would not order it again.

Since I was told Fluffed’s waffles are one of the best in town, I asked the cashier to recommend me their best seller. I was recommended the Pooh Bear’s Favourite. Pooh Bear’s Favourite is a signature waffle topped with handcrafted Hokey Pokey ice cream, crushed honeycomb, salted caramel, crushed honeycomb and fruits (blueberry, strawberry and banana).

The waffle, though thick and crispy, tasted pretty much normal. It lacked the distinct buttery taste that I like when eating waffles. To be honest, I still prefer Fatbaby’s waffles and ice cream. Unlike Fatbaby, Fluffed does not display their ice-cream. Hence, you are unable to sample any of their ice cream flavours, and decide which flavour of ice cream you’d like on your waffles.

I’d probably only consider visiting this outlet again if a friend wants to try their waffles and cakes. Otherwise, it’s off to Fatbaby’s for waffle cravings!
